Queer Nineteen is a free, online resource dedicated to sharing queer stories from the Long Nineteenth Century (1789-1914). Join us for our debut #Queer19 Summer Symposium on 15th August 2023, 09:30 - 17:00 (BST) where we're opening the virtual doors to anybody with a Queer19 story to tell. This free, online, one-day event is aimed at postgraduate and early career
researchers working on any aspect of long nineteenth-century queerness.

We welcome proposals for fifteen minute papers on areas including but
not limited to:

  • Nineteenth Century Queer Politics

  • Queerness & Criminalisation

  • Developments in Queer Theory

  • Queer Poetics & Beauty

  • Neo-Victorian Queerness

  • Trans* Victorians

  • Asexual Victorians

  • Queer Visual Art (Artist & Subject)

Individuals who have articles and biographies published/awaiting publication with Queer Nineteen are welcome to present papers on the subject of their article or an alternative subject.

Please submit abstracts of 300 words and brief biographies of 50 words to this form by 11th July 2023. Confirmation of acceptance will be emailed by 18th July 2023.
