Call for Papers 2024

Queer Nineteen is a free, online resource dedicated to sharing queer stories from the Long Nineteenth Century (1789-1914). We are currently seeking short articles, biographies, and reviews of around 2,000 words  (MLA formatting) to be published on our website for the Spring/Summer period 2024.

We welcome biographies and short articles from any topic relating to the queer Long Nineteenth century, but are particularly interested in receiving work on any aspect of non-Anglophone queerness, trans* identity, and asexuality.

We are also seeking reviews on recent works of queer interest ranging from scholarly texts to queer Neo-Victorian fiction.

Some topics you might consider are:

  • Trans* Victorians

  • Asexual Victorians

  • Global Queers

  • Nineteenth Century Queer Politics

  • Queerness & Criminalisation

  • Queer Poetics & Beauty

  • Neo-Victorian Queerness

  • Queer Visual Art (Artist & Subject)

Please send articles of 2,000 words to by 26th April 2024.
